I have to give this a big thumbs up. If you can get past a fairly long initial load, a fair clip of crashes, and other such bugs you'd expect from a beta - you find a really great game underneath.

It's like Red Orchestra set in the modern era, but a heck of a lot more FUN. Weapons "feel" realistic, and when you get a kill it feels very rewarding. While the HUD is minimalistic and the game is, indeed, very realistic. Yet, for some reason it's a lot more fun than other realistic "simulators" like ArmA, I can't quite put my finger one why.

It's a very fun mod, and it's free. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a shot, I think many of you will be pleasantly surprised.

I been playing it the past couple days and I must say I have really enjoyed the game. Getting a kill is rewarding but at the same time, getting nailed will make you jump as well. You do not have crosshairs, there is a slight sway in the arms when you turn so putting a crosshair on your monitor is not going to help very much. Iron sights are very important and will drastically reduce your field of vision, as it should. When you use a scope, it feels like using a real scope. The maps are very complex and look really good. I have played this game the past couple days and I still know very little about the maps.

There is talk at TWL about picking up this mod. We will have to keep an eye on this and how the beta progresses. If the developers stay on the right track, this could be the next big mod like css/tfc. In my opinion, this is what BF2/2142 should have been like.

The new patch for the Insurgency Mod has been released. Make sure to download the update.

Note: I think this game has a good chance of actually become a competition part of the hk in the future if and when they come out of the beta phase of the game. For those who like quasi-realistic shooters, please give this game a try. I have listened to the community update portion about upcoming updates and contents and things look very promising.
