Basicaly they put out cards advertising they worked with vista and then after they didnt instead of fixing it with better drivers they want you to buy another card that is better. A community guy modded the current drivers making the original card work as it should and creative said omg no we sue you!!! guy took stuff down and now every one is boycotting creative as they shit on everyone. :D

Yeah I was reading about this.

A bit of a summary here: http://consumerist.com/373901/creative- ... programmer

Interesting stuff. Consumers FTW!

This isn't the first time either...there was the snap crackle pop issues with XFi cards in XP.
I was one of the lucky ones who didn't have the issue but drivers finally fixed the problems.
My XFi Pro works great in XP.

Creative Upper management are the problem here. Hire the guy for Christ sake!

I applaud Daniel_k for fixing the issues but when he asked for donations is what made Creative turn on him. If I was Daniel_k i would have opened up a blog and asked for donations there.  He was using the donations I guess to buy hardware for testing.

It has been interesting reading the threads. Lets see if any good comes from this.

Let me say, I was a proud owner of the original sound blaster cards. Back then there was Ad Lib that started with the first mass consumer digitized sound card. Then creative came along and made a fabulous card that propelled them to where they are today. Now they are one of the worst companies I have seen and will never buy another product from them again.

There driver support is simply attrocious to say the least, yet oddly the hardware is usually pretty good. I was one of the lucky ones that have  a xi-fi card that took only a year to fix it. So for a year I had a 200 dollar rice crispies card, that snapped crackled and popped and yet oddly enough didnt need milk.

Now this new scheme (yes the correct wording)....I would rather buy a calling card to haiti before i buy another creative labs card.
