Ive been having a problem with my computer for some time now, and havnt been able to come up with an answer yet, maybe one of yall can help me out.

Currently, I have a DVD player/ CD burner combo drive connected to my computer, and the computer runs fine with it.
When I try to connect any other cd-drive, like the actual cd-rom that I have, or a DVD burner that I have, windows will crash to a Blue Screen of Death. Usually this crash takes place while windows is loading.

I know these drives work, I had the CD-rom on my other computer, and the DVD is brand new.

Oh, and its WindowsXP Pro.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated....

Disconnect the combo drive and then put whatever drives you want in, see if it does the same thing. Wierd.

Be sure you have the drives set to master/slave as needed. Sometime if both are cable select mode it will cause strange issues. You also don't want to put a slower ide device like a cd-rom on the same channel as your HD drive as the channel will slow down to accommodate the slower device.
