You cant keep up with computer technology as fast as it gets released. Only now is Dual Core technology affordable. This Conroe processor wont be affordable for most users at this time, let alone how stable it will be. Even the Extreme Editions have stability issues at this point and they been out a couple years already. I am pretty happy with the XPS 700. I am moving up from a 256 MB X850XT, 8xAGP to a 1 GB of Quad SLI Video, PCI 16x.

Technology rule of thumb: Never be the first to buy new technology. Wait 6 months before purchasing so that you know if the technology will hold up. Also check venders to see what hardware they use for various system types. For the most part, they will be very similar across the board (i.e. compare Alienware, Dell, Falcon NW, Velocity, etc.).

Did you know that Alienware and Dell have merged? They are still ran as seperate companies though.

I remember something about it. If you buy Alienware right now, you pay alot just for the name, more so than Dell. Either way, Dell done some good things with the XPS systems with hardcore gamers in mind. Now they have the experience of Alienware as well.

All Dell really needs to do is use AMD procs and have an option for watercooling and you'd have the same thing as alienware.
